When my daughter was 0-3 we did interest based learning. Whatever my daughter was interested in I went with it. When I did shelf rotations she was involved, and she would pick out what toys she wanted out and which toys would be put away.
Now that my daughter is 4 years old we DONT do interest based. We follow a scope and sequence which guides us on the order of presentations and we use albums to guide ME on how to present the materials to her.
As our childs guide and educator its our job to connect the child to the materials. Its our job to make it "interesting" so that they are interested and therefore = interest based for our child. INTEREST ISNT SOMETHING YOU HAVE - ITS SOMETHING YOU DO!
If you haven't subscribed to our website just yet DO IT! you'll receive a scope and sequence & albums recommendations for you to use with your children.

Here is an example of interest based shelf November, 2019 my daughter is 13 months
