We own 2 work mats a small one and a large one. We tend to use our large work mat more than the small one and id recommend the large one vs the small one.
Work mats are essential to the Montessori environment its a defined space on the floor where their materials/work is placed on. It is also a visual defined space for other children & adults in the environment. Children are shown to respect the work mat by walking around it rather step on it.
